Lucas Jacobsen is a board-certified Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner who believes that symptoms are signals, not the whole story. Real healing begins when we look beyond the surface and address the deeper causes of dysfunction. He earned his MSN from Vanderbilt University and completed a post-graduate residency through the VA, where he worked with complex psychiatric presentations across a broad range of ages and life experiences.
Lucas has a particular passion for working with people who have learned to perform rather than feel, those who are high-functioning on the outside and quietly struggling on the inside. He brings warmth, directness, and genuine curiosity to each session, holding space for both the science of the brain and the story of the person in front of him.
His approach blends integrative and functional psychiatry with trauma-informed, whole-person care, drawing on psychopharmacology, nutritional psychiatry, advanced lab testing, and pharmacogenomic insights to understand not just what you’re experiencing, but why. Whether that means exploring gut health, micronutrient status, or your personal history, Lucas builds care plans that support lasting change rather than simply quieting symptoms.
Before becoming a clinician, Lucas thru-hiked the Pacific Crest Trail, 2,650 miles from Mexico to Canada. Over five months he walked alongside people from five different continents, each carrying their own beautiful and sorrowful stories of joy, grief, and suffering. He came to understand that the human experience is far more universal than it is unique, and that most people are simply doing their best with what they have. That understanding, and the humility it requires, is something he carries into every clinical encounter.
He cares for a wide range of patients, including those navigating mood disorders, anxiety, PTSD, OCD, ADHD, depression, substance use, sleep issues, gut-brain dysfunction, PMDD, and chronic stress or burnout.
